Conservative: May 2008 Archives
People should understand that there are basic core principles to Conservativism.
1.
We believe in Smaller Government.
a. Government SHOULD NOT be the largest
employer
b. Government is not the be-all, end-all
in life
c. Local control is key to responsive
Government
2.
We believe in strong National Defense
a. Strong Military
b. Secure Borders
c. Active Intelligence Gathering
d. Energy
3.
We believe Judges should Interpret the Law
a. Judges should not make law but
instead direct the Legislature if laws are unconstitutional
b. Look to the Original Intent of our
Constitution
c. Don’t make rulings based on Foreign
Laws
4.
We believe in Fiscal Responsibility
a. Spending should be for necessities
b. Transparency in “Earmarks” and other
Spending
c. Eliminate funding for programs that
provide little or no benefit
…And Most Importantly –
Don’t Blame Conservatives because the Republicans Lost
Their Way.
This week the Republican presumptive nominee’s interview with Bill O’Reilly was aired (May 8th in 2 segments and on May 9th in 1 segment) on the Fox News Channels “The O’Reilly Factor”.
I haven’t seen any posts on the web talking about this interview (maybe because it isn’t controversial) but I feel that it is important to present all sides so you can make informed decisions on who to vote for.
I have made no secret of the fact that I have issues with
John McCain. I have known him for a long time from when I was in
The papers and press over the years have tried to throw dirt at him but it would never stick. I strongly believe that his integrity is above reproach. This is something that may be lacking from the Democrats running for their party’s nomination.
Watch the videos and decide for your self.
I think any conservative watching these videos will be able to identify the areas of disagreement.
It is my opinion John McCain is the better choice.
John McCain will be strong on the uncontrolled spending and earmarks, national defense, foreign policy and the rule of law.
We just need him to be stronger on domestic, energy and immigration policy.
